If you’re thinking of replacing your old air conditioning unit with a Trane, you’ll have to do your research first. In this article, we’ve made it easy for you.

We’ve put together a Trane AC Review with 10 facts about Trane residential HVAC systems, which will tell you about their efficiency, service, and lifespan, as well as some other interesting bits of information.

Things You Didn’t Know About Trane Residential Air Conditioners

Trane is one of the biggest names in air conditioning. Read on to find out why.

1. Trane Has Been Pioneering Air Conditioning Since the Beginning

When Trane first began, the idea of using technology to keep people cool from the heat was a radical concept.

Until that point, people had been much more basic methods to keep cool. The most popular one was putting blocks of ice in front of fans to cool the air.

Since Trane’s inception, it has continued to lead the way in the world of air conditioning, producing groundbreaking products that are unlike anything else on the market.

2. The Company is Over 100 Years Old

Trane was founded in 1931 by a man named James Trane.

He started by opening a plumbing shop in Wisconsin. Then, he went on to produce equipment for heating, ventilation and air conditioning.

3. A Unit Is Installed Every Minute

Trane air conditioning units are in high demand. In fact, they’re so popular that one is installed every minute of every day.

4. They’re More Efficient than Other Models

One of the many factors that set Trane air conditioners apart from the competition is efficiency.

When your air conditioner operates more efficiently, you can greatly reduce the amount of energy you use. This means that you reduce your carbon footprint as well as your utility bills.

In fact, replacing your old air conditioner with a Trane unit can save you up to 60% on the annual cost of cooling your home. This is because Trane has a SEER Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) rating of 20.00.

That’s not the only energy-efficiency standard that Trane meets. Their high-efficiency models also comply with Energy Star guidelines. When you buy one of these units, you can be sure that you’re getting one of the most environmentally-friendly air conditioners on the market.

5. Refrigerant Levels Make Them Even More Efficient

Many HVAC systems on the market don’t contain the proper amount of refrigerant.

This makes them more expensive to the consumer in a number of ways. First of all, they’re more likely to break down and need repairing or replacing. On top of that, they also have higher running costs because they can’t work efficiently.

Trane avoids these problems by designing their systems to run on the optimum refrigerant levels.

6. They’re Manufactured Worldwide

While the products are tested in the US, they’re made at various locations around the world.

In total, there are around 30 locations worldwide. These include countries like Brazil, France, Taiwan, the UK, Mexico, and even Egypt.

7. There’s an Extended Warranty

When you buy a Trane air conditioner, you have the option to purchase the Trane extended warranty.

This means you if your unit needs any maintenance, you can get it repaired at no extra cost.

You can choose how long you want it to be valid for, extending it in increments of five or ten years at a time. You can also choose whether it covers parts only or a combination of parts and labor.

8. Products are Tested for 16 Weeks

Every Trane air conditioning unit goes through 16 weeks of rigorous testing before it’s allowed to be sold.

This takes place at a lab in Texas named SEET, which stands for Systems Extreme Environmental Test.

During this testing period, each product is put through a variety of extreme weather conditions. This ranges from sub-zero temperatures to sweltering heat. There’s even a corrosion resistance test, which involves constantly spraying units with salt for a full week.

It’s said that the conditions that products are subjected to in this lab are the equivalent of 5 years of wear and tear, condensed into just a few months. This testing gives Trane the confidence that their products are robust and reliable, and allows them to provide a quality guarantee to their customers.

9. One Test Unit Has Been Running Nonstop Since 2000

One example of Trane’s extreme testing methods is the Snowball.

This is a compressor which was kept running consistently from 1972 to 2000. When that one finally came to the end of its lifespan, it was replaced with Snowball II.

Snowball II has been running nonstop ever since then, and in doing so, has encased itself in a block of ice. This is a testament to the power, longevity, and reliability of Trane’s technology.

Snowball uses the same Cimatuff technology that is installed in their residential HVAC systems.

10. Trane Units are in Some of the World’s Most Famous Buildings

Trane air conditioners aren’t just for residential use.

Their excellent performance is also used to provide cooling and comfort to some of the most well-known building around the world. This includes the Olympic Sports Complex in Athens, the Kremlin in Moscow, the La Scala Theater in Milan, Sea World in Orlando, and the World Trade Center in Beijing.
